Craft Classes:

General information:

Weekend classes are held on Saturdays, usually from 09h00 – 11h30 and 12h00 – 14h30.
Weekday classes are available on request. We run day and evening weekday classes, let us know what suits you and we will do our best to find a time to suit your schedule.

We supply all materials and equipment for our classes, and you get to take home what you make (except sewing). This an ideal way for you to learn a new craft and create something special, either for your home or as a special gift for someone. You could even buy craft classes as a birthday gift with a difference!

We keep all our classes small to maximize the attention we give each individual. We do not require minimum booking before we commence with a class.

We don’t have set times for any particular class, as we have various teachers available to help you with the craft you are interested in. Booking and payment confirms your class at the time best suited for you.

We are based in Roosevelt Park, opposite the JHB Botanical Gardens.

We offer the following classes:

Beading

Cost: R180.00 - 2hr workshop.

Basic beading classes for beginners. Learn while doing fun things, such as making your own earrings, and learn the use of eye & head pins. Make (and take home) a waxed cord lariat necklace or a pin bracelet.

Candle making

One of our "funnest" courses - the candle making courses covers the basics of candle making, as well as teaching you advanced techniques where you will learn some very important and nifty tricks of the trade. Candle making is an easy, inexpensive and rewarding hobby.

What you will make:

Two- part ball mould candle: This is decorated with paint techniques and over-dipped.
Hurricane candle: This is then filled and a two- colour candle made.
Tea-light candle: Made from alternative candle moulds. This gets decoupage and over-dipped.
Gel candle: With embellishments.
Block candle: Embedding embellishments into a candle.

Crochet

Cost: R180.00 - 2hr workshop.

Learn how to create all those fancy things your granny used to make, now making a huge come-back.
One lesson is all you need to get going, but we do offer an advanced 2nd workshop if you want to take your crochet to the next level!

Decoupage

Cost: R480.00 - 3x 2,5hr sessions..

Basic and advanced decoupage classes are available on request.
We cover everything from basic modge-podge and antique cracks, to under-glass decoupage, 3D and gilding.

D I Y

No more frustration wondering how to get the shelf up, or how to use some of these interesting and sometimes scarey looking power tools.

Learn all the basics, such as which screw is used for what, as well as the “ins & outs” of tools, their uses, and even how to "do it all yourself".

Gel candles

Gel candle class is a two hour class where you learn the ins and outs of gel and how to make the perfect gel candle.
Ever wanted to know how to get bubbles in, or how to place embellishment?
Join Mark and learn all about them in this fun and exciting workshop!

Glass Painting

Fabric Painting

Painting techniques for large cloths, salt, sun and tye-dye techniques.
Learn to design and trace pattern onto your cloth.
Shading and other basic fabric painting techniques.
The Colour wheel.
Create a 50cm x 50cm painted cloth.

Knitting

Learn how to do all the basic and advanced knitting stitches to make all those fancy things your granny used to make! One lesson is all you need, but we do offer an advanced knitting workshop for those who want to take their knitting skills to new heights!

Mosaic

Learn how to create a mosaic masterpiece using tiles, glass and mirror.
Also learn how to create detailed intricate pictures and how to cut mirror and tiles to get the perfect bit for your picture.

Resin casting and silicone rubber mould making

Mark is giving away some of his well-learnt trade secrets on how to make your own silicone moulds for any use. Now you can make that special candle, embellishment or even metal casting that you can’t find a mould for anywhere. Learn how to make the moulds and how to do resin casting.

How to make a positive of your object
How to make a negative of your object
Making a silicone rubber mould
Casting in resin, wax and plaster

This is a very detailed course and is only for the serious casters.

Sewing

Basic and advanced sewing classes.

We do:

Dress making
Soft furnishing, such as curtaining and upholstery.
Needle work, like ribbon embroidery and candle wicking, cross stitch and quilting.

Learn about different types of fabric and decide what you want to make in your first lesson. In the following two lessons we will complete the item of your choice while learning basic and advanced sewing techniques. If there is a specific technique you would like to learn, we charge R180 per 2hr session.

Basic and advanced sewing classes. Learn needlework, such as ribbon embroidery, candle wicking, quilting and cross-stitch. There is no time frame for these classes as there are a multitude of skills one can learn - we teach what you want to learn.
